- Quartz Banger Dabs Review: 67%
I selected a total of 3 cannabis concentrates to use with my quartz banger dab review, but more on the cannabis selected and the Massachusetts dispensaries later.
The traditional quartz nail and rig waterpipe, the tried-and-true vaporization device that has been a personal favorite of mine for some time. It consists of a quartz dish, called a nail or quartz banger, and a waterpipe, referred to as a rig in this application. The butane torch is used to heat the nail to the perfect temperature for dabbing, and consume your cannabis extract by vaporizing it on the hot nail. You inhale the vaporized concentrates through the rig.
So I cleaned out my cheap import bong, refilled my butane torch, and I was off to the cannabis concentrate fueled races.
The quartz nail and rig has been a personal favorite of mine for years. I know exactly how to consume low-temperature dabs.

Above: Cannabis concentrate from a local Massachusetts dispensary being dabbed in a quartz banger.
Compared to all of the fancy cannabis technology on the market today, my rig is not perfectly clean glass. Nor is it an expensive, purpose-built, cold-start piece.
This specific banger has been with me since I first started learning about the differences between shatter and crumble. Alas, it has served me well for the last three years, event though it’s not brand new quartz. I know exactly how to use this banger to get low temperature dabs.
Concentrate flavor profiles, when consumed in clean quartz are always strong. Effects can include that familiar hit that feels like a punch to the face and sends shivers down your spine before the wave of heat envelops your body.

Cannabis Concentrates:
- Solventless fresh-frozen Lemon Walker hash rosin from SIRA Naturals.
- CO2 extracted Acapulco Gold live resin from Commonwealth Alternative Care.
- Panda Focus CBD isolate wax mixed terpenes from Panda Styx.
One of the major drawback of a classic banger and rig setup is that there can be a lot of waste from concentrates. This entire process is very much prone to human error, and it’s easy to consume a dab that’s too hot. Or you can miss the optimal temperature window and hit your dab too cold.
Cleaning your quartz nail after every use is crucial. Use cotton swabs and alcohol. Dabcrate loaned us this awesome Klean Pump iso dispenser which I absolutely love. Or you can use the lower-tech methos of 91% isopropyl alcohol in a mason jar.

Above: Dispense 91% iso alcohol from a Klean Pump dispenser with your swab station.
Concentrates like the Lemon Walker hash rosin, with lots of non-terpene lipids, tend to have more residual left in the nail. On average, I use 1 or 2 swabs to clean my banger.
In one of the worse cases, and I inhale the dab too aggressively, I could destory the dab and watch it melt down the neck of the banger. Familiarity with the tools is always important.
Using glass pieces will always mean regular, thorough cleaning.
Concentrates consumed with a traditional quartz banger can offer 2-3 big inhale draws of vapor for each dab, and I swear I can feel the cannabis traveling down my face and spreading across the rest of my body. (This was especially obvious with the Acapulco Gold live resin – which makes the mind go scattershot and causes your heart to race instantly with a good rip.)
After those dab hits and a quick iso alcohol cleaning, the setup was ready again.
The quartz banger is a great option for a solo sesh but can be tedious when sharing dabs with friends.

Above: Empty butane cans are a common sight with frequent dabbers. Might be time to look at some of the electric dab technology including quartz enails.

I can feel the cannabis traveling down my face and spreading across the rest of my body.
Concentrates consumed with a traditional quartz banger can offer 2-3 big inhales.
Each draw on the rig will produce less vapor each dab as the nail cools.
It can be a delicate dance reheating your quartz banger.
